Hmmm? Tough one. I’d say that in the most literal sence of the term “possession” I would have to say my soul. I know, sounds kinda dorky, but I truly believe the Bible when it says “What would it profit a man (person) to gain the whole world and loose his soul.”.

However, in a more material sence, I would have to say that it had varied as I got older. When I was a kid, it was definatly my comic books. Especially my Flash and Green Lanterns. Now that I’m older material thngs are not as important. So I’d have to say my Bible. The one that I have all my notes in.

I never had one until just about 2 years ago when my grandma died, because I don’t really care at all about possessions. To me, everything that isn’t alive is basically dust and it’s all meaningless and replaceable.

Now, I would have to say it’s my grandma’s wedding ring that I inherited when she died. About a year before she lost her mind completely from Alzheimer’s we were talking, I was admiring her ring and asked to try it on. It fit my finger perfectly even though we had completely different body types and she had tiny little hands! A few years later, after she died my grandpa told me she had specifically asked that it be given to me. I know it was because of that conversation. I wore it every day on my right hand until one of the prongs broke (fortunately the diamond didn’t fall out). Now I just need to get it fixed and I’ll probably start wearing it again.

Yeah, I’m really not that into “stuff,” either. I do really like my iPod, but I don’t know if it quite deserves “most treasured possession” status. If something happened to it, I could just get a newer, better one.

After re-reading my comment, I realize what a sad example it is of our consumer culture. Like Kathy said, it seems like everything is built with such a short life, to be serviceable only until the latest, coolest, more powerful version comes along. Everything’s so disposable.

That’s why it’s hard for me to get that worked up about material things.

But I still like my iPod.

Turns out that meth addicts stole other stuff, but not the ring. I’m a terrible human being. Now we owe them a huge apology. F’ing humility is a bitch.
