Proust, week #13:
What is the quality you most like in a woman?
I’ll admit it - I’ve been pretty lazy in the blogging department this week. I’ve had my hands full with school and work and recovering from my weekend-long birthday extravaganza. And sometimes a girl just needs a bit of a break, you know?
Anyway. Here are a few random-ish notes on the past week:
My birthday weekend. It was, in a word, incredible. The Skirvin is a beautiful, beautiful hotel (although I still prefer the rooms at the Colcord a bit more). I drank a lot, ate some great food (Queen of Sheba and Pho Hoa, in particular), and spent quality time with my favorite people in the world.
The oddest moment of the weekend was randomly running into a couple of friends of mine from way back in the day (we’re talking freshman year in college, when we were in band together at the University of Arkansas). They happened to be staying on our floor at the Skirvin, and we ran into them while I was (of course) posing sluttily on the chaise lounge near the elevator. Imagine my shock when, during my drunken mugging for the camera, I hear the words, “Sarah? Is that you?”
I also learned this weekend that NBA players travel with a whole shitload of luggage (the Sacramento Kings were also staying on our floor).

The Okie Blog Awards. Alas, Two-Headed Blog failed to pull off a threepeat with the Okie Blog Awards. Our reign over the Best Commentary category had to end eventually – I’m surprised that we managed to pull the wool over y’all’s eyes for as long as we did. My heartiest congratulations to all of the winners.

Important Things with Demetri Martin. Premiered Wednesday night on Comedy Central, and is now one of my new favorite shows. I was already a fan of Demetri Martin, from both his stand-up special and his work on The Daily Show, and his new show is pure delight from beginning to end. I just wonder how long they’ll be able to keep up the awesomeness. The first episode set a pretty high bar, in my book.

Running Milestone! Last night at the gym, I ran two miles straight for the first time. (Well, technically for the second time – the first was about six years ago, when I did the two-mile fun run at the Redbud. And that was just that one time.) Last night, I found the first mile and a half to be pretty easy. The last half-mile was a little bit tougher, but not too bad. My first 5K is just about a month away, and I’m reasonably confident that I can make that last 1.1 mile by then.
I now feel comfortable in saying that this is probably the best shape I’ve ever been in. Even when I was 18 years old and about 60 pounds lighter, I couldn’t run two miles straight.
Go me.

Happy Birthday to me!
I will be spending my 33rd not at work, but enjoying a nice, long workout and then meeting up with my dear friend Cookieboots at the beautiful Skirvin hotel, where we will be kickin’ it in luxury this weekend. There may also be some Queen of Sheba and tattoos in the works.
Gonna be a good one.
